Xabi Alonso, the Spanish manager of Bayer Leverkusen, the new German Bundesliga champions, commented on their 0-3 defeat against Atalanta in the Europa League final.
"Of course we need to congratulate Atalanta. They were intense. They were better. They deserve it. The whole team gave everything but today was not our day," Xabi Alonso said, reported the Bundesliga website.
Atalanta have won their first European cup title.
