Cristiano Ronaldo, the 39-year-old star forward of Portugal and Al-Nassr, made his 1,226th appearance at the club and national team level and surpassed the record of 1,225 matches held by former Brazil and Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni, reports the International Federation of Football History & Statistics.
Portugal beat Ireland 3-0 in a friendly match Tuesday evening, and Ronaldo scored a brace.
He has played in 698 matches in the top leagues of Portugal, England, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. Also, Ronaldo has made 101 appearances in the cup and super cup tournaments of those countries. In addition, he has played 220 matches in international club tournaments and made 207 appearances for the Portuguese national team.
Also, Ronaldo has scored 130 goals in the national squad and 765 goals in club teams.
