Armenia opens historic stadium for Italy – La Stampa.

In its article entitled “Armenia opens historic ‘Hrazdan’ Stadium for Italy,” the Italian La Stampa website pointed to the stadium’s historical significance.

“Armenia opens yet again the historic ‘Hrazdan’ Stadium [this time] for Italy. Last time a match was played at the ‘Victorious’ stadium was in 2008, when Armenia’s national team hosted Turkey’s squad. The presidents of the two countries—Serzh Sargsyan and Abdullah Gul—likewise were on hand at the match,” La Stampa writes in the lead-up to the game between Armenia and Italy.
Also, the Italian website informed its readers about the success of Armenia’s “Ararat” football club and the stadium’s record number of fans.

To note, the 2014 World Cup Brazil’s qualifying Group B match between Armenia and Italy will kick off at Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Hrazdan Stadium on Friday at 9pm.
