Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea in the summer

Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, 39, will leave Chelsea London after this season, according to the English club's website.

"I came to this club to play for one year, but I stayed for four years. This club is important for me, for my family. My sons play at Chelsea. I am very proud to be a member of the Chelsea family. I hope my sons can continue their careers here.

I hope to return in a different role in the near future. My love for the club is indescribable. I can only say thank you. Saying goodbye is hard. But one says goodbye to someone who doesn't come back. I hope to return one day," said Thiago Silva.

The former Brazilian national team player moved to Chelsea in 2020 as a free agent. Since then, he has won the Champions League, the club World Cup and the European Super Cup.
