Even if Catalonia decides to secede from Spain, Catalan football giants FC Barcelona (Barça) will continue playing in the Spanish La Liga and the Copa del Rey, the annual cup competition for Spanish teams, according to Mundo Deportivo (Sports World).
Barça are a member in the Catalan Football Federation, which, however, will not break away from the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
La Liga likewise does not consider the option of expelling Barcelona from the Spanish league because this will result in a 30- to 40-percent reduction in income from television rights, and such turn of events will negatively impact all clubs in the league.
