NEWS.am Sport continues to presents Armenia’s athletes in the 30th Olympic Games in London. Arakel Mirzoyan, weightlifting, 69 kg category. He is the winner of European Youth Championships (2008), World Youth Championships silver medalist (2008), World Student Games silver medalist (2008), European champion (2009), and World Championship silver medalist (2009). In 2010 Mirzoyan changed his category and started to perform in 77 kg, however, he will participate in the Olympics in 69 kg category, as another Armenian weightlifter will present the state in higher category.
He is the son of famous weightlifter, Olympic champion Ogsen Mirzoyan. The latter is Arakel’s personal trainer while the team trainer is Poghos Poghosyan.
“We believe in all weightlifters in the Games. The athletes should be in a top shape and able to show their whole ability while performing. Arakel Mirzoyan is one of our hopes, who can also bring new achievements in the Armenian sport,” Poghosyan said.
He will perform on July 31.
