Two-time champion at the 2016 Summer Olympics that are held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Russian Armenian fencer Yana Egorian, spoke about what she is going to do with bonus money she has received for becoming Olympic champion.
“I love Khimki [town of Russia] very much,” Championat quoted Egorian as saying. “Now, I live [there] with my mother and grandmother. For that reason, I will buy an apartment in Khimki, with the bonus money.
“I’ve spent all my life in this town, and I practically know every third person [there]. Of course, everyone knows, congratulates, wants to take photos with me. Yes, life has changed [for me]; I hope it’ll change more.”
Yana Egorian, who represents Russia, became gold medalist in the women’s individual saber and the women’s team saber at Rio 2016.
She is the granddaughter of Armenian opera singer and movie actor Henrik Alaverdyan.
Her father, Karapet Alaverdyan, lives in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan. NEWS.am Sport had met with him after her daughter’s first triumph at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
