Lionel Scaloni, the manager of current FIFA World Champions Argentina, spoke about the possible absence of Inter Miami's 37-year-old star striker Lionel Messi in Argentina’s upcoming quarterfinal match in Copa America being held in the US.
Messi has a muscle injury.
"We will wait until the final decision regarding Messi's participation is made. The information is encouraging,” Scaloni said, Mundo Albiceleste reports. "We have another option in the offensive line. Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez can start the match together if Messi is absent. But it would be fair to wait until the last moment before making a decision. We will talk, find out before the training."
Argentina's opponents in the quarterfinals of Copa America will be Ecuador. The match will be played Friday.
