In an official statement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has dismissed the misinformation that is gathering momentum on social media about the possible postponement or cancellation of the Paris Olympic Games.
According to the theory, the reason may be the possible civil clashes after the second round of the French parliamentary elections.
"This is obviously part of the on-going disinformation campaign against France, the IOC, and its President, and the Olympic Games. It has no factual basis whatsoever. The IOC President and the entire Olympic Movement are looking forward with great anticipation to excellent Olympic Games Paris 2024, starting with the Opening Ceremony on 26 July," the IOC statement reads.
The second round of the French parliamentary elections is scheduled for Sunday.
