Quincy Promes is released from custody

Dutch national football squad and Ajax midfielder Quincy Promes has been released from custody, the press service of the Amsterdam Prosecutor's Office reports.

On December 13, the 28-year-old footballer was detained on suspicion of stabbing one of his relatives. It is stated that the prosecutor's office had no grounds for not releasing Promes from custody. Despite his release, the midfielder remains a suspect in the case. Earlier, it was reported that this incident took place during a family party in June, when Promes had an argument with one of his family members, and stabbed him.

The victim suffered a wound to his knee. He applied to the police a month ago, after which an investigation was launched. The footballer's lawyer, Manon Aalmoes, had stated that his client did not accept the charges and was not even at the scene.
