Uruguay and Atlético Madrid defender Diego Godín has confirmed he turned down a move to Manchester United on the England transfer window deadline day.
United were willing to pay the 32-year-old’s €25mn buyout clause, but the Uruguay international did not want to part ways with Atlético.
“I have had offers, although I have decided to stay for personal reasons and I am only thinking about the [Super Cup] final [against Real Madrid],” Godín said, according to Mirror newspaper.
Diego Godín plays at Atlético Madrid since 2010, and he will captain the club this season.
