Ronaldo ready to pay €14mn to Spain tax authorities

Real Madrid’s Portuguese star forward Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to enter into a deal with the Spanish tax agency, and in connection with the tax evasion case against him, reported Mundo Deportivo.

Accordingly, the 33-year-old footballer has made an offer to the tax authorities, so that the case will be closed before the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Ronaldo is ready to accept guilty charges on four counts of fraud and to pay €14 million. Earlier, he had agreed to pay €3.8 million, but the Spanish tax agency had tuned down this offer.

The captain of the Portuguese national squad is accused of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities of €14.7 million between 2011 and 2014.

In July of the year past, he had testified in court, and in relation to this tax evasion case.
