Currently ranked number 2, Roger Federer has the opportunity to leapfrog Spanish Rafael Nadal and take over the number 1 spot next week if he gets to the Semifinals, Sky Sports reported.
According to the source, 1-ranked Nadal is currently just 155 points ahead of Federer in the rankings.
Last time Roger Federer took part in the tournament in 2013 year. Earlier this year Roger Federer won his sixth Australian Open and 20th Grand Slam title.
