Emmanuel Petit: Mkhitaryan is not a winner

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit shared his opinion about Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s possible move to Arsenal and slammed club’s transfer policy.

Petit believes capture of Mkhitaryan proves they can no longer attract the world’s top stars, he told

“If you can’t guarantee trophies – or at least compete to win them – then you must offer players more in order to come to the club. That’s the way it works,” teamtalk.com website quotes Petit.

“It’s how they’ve got Henrikh Mkhitaryan,” he told Paddy Power.

Petit said he is not sure that Mkhitaryan has a winning mentality.

“Sometimes he reminds me of Mesut Ozil – you really have to push him to show his character, and put him under pressure to display his best qualities.”

“There’s no doubt he has great skill, but I’m not sure he’s the kind of footballers Arsenal need. They should be focussed on other positions.”

According to earlier reports, Adidas stores have begun to sell Manchester United shirts with Alexis Sanchez's name printed on the back.

Manchester United and Arsenal are expected to announce the deal soon when Mkhitaryan will move to Arsenal, while Alexis Sanchez in the opposite direction.

Some reports suggested that the only issue, which is standing in the way of the deal, is financial problem. The 28-year-old Armenian midfielder joined MU training on Thursday.

During the media conference earlier today, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he liked “that player”.
