London Olympics 2012: First victory of Armenian athletes

Armenia’s Hovhannes Davtyan started Olympics with a victory over German opponent in the men’s Judo 60kg last 64 on Saturday.

Davtyan defeated Germany’s Tobias Englmaier and will face Azerbaijan’s Ilgar Mushkiyev in last-16.

Hovhannes Davtyan was born on November 25, 1985. He got involved in Judo at the age of 12. Hovhanes in Europe’s vice champion (2007,2011), winner of World Super Cup, bronze medalist of 2009 World championships.  

“I don’t think that it is a secret that I’m going to London to win. It is the dream of every athlete to win the Olympics and I am leaving to make my dream come true,” he said ahead of the 2012 London Games.
