Armenia’s Akopian wins Dubai competition

Grandmaster (GM) Vladimir Akopian became winner of the rapid chess tournament devoted to the National Day of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

At the event that was held in Dubai, Akopian, who is a member of the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia, scored 8 points out of 9, and defeated GM Viktor Moskalenko (Spain) on tiebreak.

A total of 180 chess players—including five GMs and three International Masters—from 25 countries are competing in this tournament
