2014 World Cup: Colombia president declares Friday public holiday

President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia has decreed Friday afternoon—local time—as a “civic day.”

On that day, the Colombia national football squad will face the host nation, Brazil, in the quarterfinals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“I want to announce all public officials that we have decreed a half holiday on Friday, so everyone can watch the match,” said the Colombian president, the Hollywood Reporter informed.

The Brazil-Colombia clash will kick off on Saturday 12am Armenia time.
