2014 World Cup: Colombia and Greece advance to playoffs

The Colombian and Greek national football squads have booked their places—from Group C—in the 1/8 finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. In their third and final group-stage match, Colombia defeated Japan by a score of 4-1 while Greece beat Ivory Coast by a score of 2-1.  

 As a result, the Colombians finished the group phase atop Group C with a perfect record and they will face Uruguay—the runners-up in Group D—in the playoffs.  The Greeks, who finished second in Group C with 4 points, will enter the pitch against Costa Rica—the winners in Group D—in the 1/8 finals.

  Ivory Coast and Japan, on the other hand, have bid farewell to the World Cup with 3 points and 1 point, respectively.
