Albena: Gabuzyan chases the leaders

YEREVAN. – Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Hovhannes Gabuzyan has scored 4 points after five rounds at the chess open being held in Albena, Bulgaria.

Gabuzyan is only half a point behind the current leaders—GM Baris Esen (Turkey), (International Master) IM Vitaliy Bernadskiy, and GM Martyn Kravtsiv (Ukraine).

GMs Tigran L. Petrosian and Vladimir Akopian—who are members of the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions Armenia—each have 3.5 points while FIDE Master (FM) Tigran S. Petrosyan has 3 points so far.

Separately, GM Zaven Andriasian has scored 4.5 points after six rounds at the Nezhmetdinov Memorial in Kazan, Russia.IM Nikita Matinian has 4 points.

The current leader with 5 points is GM Dmitry Kokarev (Russia), Armchess reported.
