Candidates Tournament 2014: Aronian vs. Topalov

Round 10 in the Candidates Tournament 2014, which is held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, will be played on Tuesday.   

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia, and who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings—will face GM Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria). After the ninth round, Aronian stands in second place, with 5 points.Former World Chess Champion, GM Viswanathan Anand (India) leads the current standings, with 6 points. The GM who wins this tournament will become the official World Chess Champion candidate, and compete against reining World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), who tops the FIDE rankings, for the title of World Chess Champion.
