Candidates Tournament 2014: Aronian vs. Karjakin

Round 7 in the Candidates Tournament 2014, which is held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, will be played on Friday. Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia, and who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings—will face GM Sergey Karjakin (Russia).  

After the sixth round, Aronian has garnered 3.5 and is second in the current standings, whereas Karjakin has amassed 2.5 points so far. Former World Chess Champion, GM Viswanathan Anand (India) heads the event with 4 points. All games will start at 1pm, Armenia time.The GM who wins this tournament will become the official World Chess Champion candidate, and compete against reining World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), who tops the FIDE rankings, for the title of World Chess Champion.
