FIDE: Armenia’s Aronian continues increasing rating

The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has issued its rankings for March 2014. 

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia—is still second in the new FIDE rankings

In addition, Aronian has improved his rating which now stands at 2830, as compared to 2826 in the February rankings. 

2013 World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), continues to top the list, and GM Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) is still ranked third.

The Armenian national chess team has three more representatives in the world top 100 rankings. They are GMs Vladimir Akopian (64th), Sergei Movsesian (72nd), and Gabriel Sargissian (73rd).

In March, Levon Aronian will compete in the Candidates Tournament 2014, for the next World Chess Champion, which will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
