Armenia’s Aronian ends year as World No. 2

2700chess.com posted the updated list of the World Live Chess Ratings.

In the new list, Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia, and who is ranked second in the FIDE ratings—is still in second place.  

Aronian’s rating has increased by 9.5 points, and it is 2,812.5, at present.

Newly-crowned 2013 World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), continues to top the list, with 2,872 points.

Levon Aronian won a silver metal in the blitz chess tournament of the World Mind Games, which was held recently in Chinese capital city Beijing. In addition, he showed the best performance on the first boards at the men’s World Chess Team Championship 2013, which was held in Antalya, Turkey
