Warsaw: Armenia vs. France

Eighth-round matches will be played Saturday in the men’s competition at the European Team Chess Championship which is held in the Polish capital city Warsaw.

 In Round 8, three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the World Team Chess champions Armenia—comprising Grandmasters Levon Aronian, Sergei Movsesian, Vladimir Akopian, Gabriel Sargissian, and Tigran Petrosian—will face tournament leaders France. After Round 7, Armenia and France have 11 and 12 points, respectively. In the seventh round, Armenia defeated Russia, whereas France drew with Azerbaijan.

In the women’s Round 8 competition, Armenia will play against Ukraine.After seven rounds, Armenia’s women are second, with 11 points, whereas Ukraine are the current leaders, with 13 points.
