World No. 50 Karen Khachanov (Russia) opened his US Open campaign in New York with a victory. The Armenian tennis player faced world No. 59 Roman Andres Burruchaga of Argentina, winning the match 6-3, 6-0, 6-1. The match lasted one hour and 35 minutes.
Khachanov's next opponent will be the winner of the match between Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime and Australia's Rinky Hijikata.
The US Open prize fund stands at $108 million.
