Head coach of the Armenian national football team Yeghishe Melikyan spoke admiringly of the national team's former captain and a 37-year-old midfielder for the Italian champions and cup winners Inter Milan Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
"Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a role model for our footballers and for all of us; the kind of person and player he is fills us with pride. Many are surprised that Henrikh is still playing at such a high level, but I am not.
I have known Mkhitaryan since he was 14 or 15; I have seen it all. He leads a lifestyle and approaches football in such a way that his excellent form-even at the age of 37-comes as no surprise.
As a coach, I have often spoken to my players about Mkhitaryan. His example shapes footballers," Yeghishe Melikyan told Championat.com.
It is worth recalling that after being appointed head coach of the Armenian national team, Yeghishe Melikyan had attempted to bring Mkhitaryan back to the squad, but without success.
