Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist, four-time European champion, and four-time world championship bronze medalist boxer Hovhannes Bachkov won his 8th victory in the ring.
At the IBA Pro-7 Champions Night tournament in Istanbul, Bachkov fought in the 63.5 kg weight category against South African Holisani Ndongeni and won by knockout in the 9th round. The Olympic bronze medalist won the IBA Pro championship belt.
In the 9thround of the fight Hovhannes Bachkov sent his opponent to knockdown. At that time, the referee wanted to open the score, but the South African's corner immediately threw a white towel into the ring.
"I am very happy that I managed to achieve victory and win this championship belt. I thank everyone who came to watch my fight, as well as those who could not come to Turkey," said Hovhannes Bachkov.
The fight lasted 10 rounds.
In the first two rounds, Hovhannes Bachkov fought defensively, working from the center of the ring. In these rounds his opponent's punches reached the target. In the third round, the Armenian boxer became more active and gained an advantage over his opponent with a successive series of kicks.
After receiving the IBA Pro champion belt, the President of the Armenian Boxing Federation Hovhannes Hambardzumyan entered the ring. The captain of the Armenian national team also thanked the President of the Federation. IBA President Umar Kremlev watched the fight of Hovhannes Bachkov in the gym of Istanbul.
