Armenia football federation chief: National squad manager will continue working until end of his contract

YEREVAN. – National team manager Joaquin Caparros will continue to work until the end of our contract; the future process is still under discussion. The president of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), Armen Melikbekyan, stated this at his year-end press conference Monday.

The FFA chief spoke also about the reforms being implemented in Armenian football. Accordingly, next year it is expected to operate new stadiums in several provinces, and which, in his view, will contribute to the development and popularization of Armenian football.

The FFA President touched also upon the chances of the Armenian national squad in the UEFA Nations League, and the possibility of extending the contract with head coach Joaquin Caparros.

"Joaquin Caparros has a contract until December 1, 2022. We do not have a discussion yet on what will happen after that. As the [Nations League] draws were made just recently, we will have another discussion with the head coach, find out the friendly matches of the coming year, and will decide what to do next. The contract is still in force, and we will continue to work with Joaquin Caparros until the end of the contract. (…). The important achievement of the Football Federation of Armenia is that a large number of footballers have been included in the national team,” Armen Melikbekyan noted, in particular.
