FC Barcelona’s Argentine forward Lionel Messi will receive the St. George Cross, which is one of the most prestigious awards of Catalonia. Since 1981, it is granted to people who have been very beneficial to the Spanish public with their activities.
“Messi is a bearer of honesty, team spirit and respect. He has gained recognition thanks to his incredible athletic career and is considered the best footballer of all times,” this is stated on the occasion of the conferment of the order on the official website of FC Barcelona.
Messi has played 45 matches with FC Barcelona during this season, scoring 46 goals and making 22 passes for goals.
