Eliud Kipchoge, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist in the marathon, has set a new world record in this race.
At the 2018 Berlin Marathon, the Kenyan athlete ran the 42-kilometer and 194-meter event in 2 hours, 1 minute and 39 seconds, and shattered the previous world record by 1 minute and 18 seconds.
