Manchester United forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan was named an Armenian athlete of the year.
Following the outcome of the vote conducted by Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan beat the Olympic champion Artur Aleksanyan. Armenian chess Levon Aronian took the third place.
The top ten were chosen through SMS and voting of sports journalists (NEWS.am Sport did not participate). According to the voting results of sports journalists, Arthur Aleksanyan claimed the first place, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan won overwhelmingly the SMS voting. The fans sent 29,092 messages.
