Armenia’s Avagyan is crowned European junior champion

Team Armenia won their second gold medal at the U15 & U17 European Weightlifting Championships that are held in Nowy Tomyśl, Poland.

Karen Avagyan was declared champion in the Boys’ U17 85 kg competition, by lifting a combined weight of 330 kg (150 kg in the Snatch and 180 kg in the Clean & Jerk).

Armenia’s other representative in this division, Hmayak Harutyunyan, placed fourth.

As reported earlier, Karen Margaryan (Armenia) had won gold medal in the Boys’ U15 77 kg competition, by lifting a combined weight of 280 kg (130 kg in the Snatch and 150 kg in the Clean & Jerk). As a result, he also broke the European records in his age group.

In addition, Liana Gyurjyan (Armenia) had become a bronze medalist in the Girls’ U15  63 kg division.
