Euro 2016: Portugal are in the final

Portugal became the first finalists in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016, which is wrapping up in France.

They on Wednesday defeated Wales by a score of 2-0 in the first semifinals.

Portugal national team captain and FC Real Madrid (Spain) forward Cristiano Ronaldo scored Portugal’s first goal in the 50th minute. This was his ninth goal in the European Championship history, thus he equaled French football legend Michel Platini’s record as the all-time European Championship top scorer.

Portugal’s second goal came in the 53rd minute, and by way of Valencia CF (Spain) newcomer and forward, Nani.

Ronaldo, 31, also had become the first player ever to reach three European Championship semifinals.

Reining world champions Germany, and the host nation, France, on Thursday will face each other to determine Portugal’s opponents in the Euro 2016 final match on Sunday.
