Borussia Dortmund (BVB; Germany) CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke spoke about the offer for Armenia national football squad captain and Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s transfer to Manchester United (England).
“We were not expecting such a generous offer for Mkhitaryan’s transfer,” Bild newspaper of Germany quoted Watzke as saying. “He was to become a free agent in one year. After a conversation with Henrikh, I was sure that he would stay at Borussia. I ruled out his transfer, but this was a mistake.”
Even though BVB have formally announced about the Armenia international’s transfer to Man United, the latter are still silent in this regard.
Earlier it was reported that the 27-year-old player will receive a bonus of €8 million for choosing Manchester United.
The 20-time football champions of England will pay an annual salary of €12.5 million to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and his transfer deal will total €42 million.
