Zurich Chess Challenge 2016: Armenia’s Aronian to first face India’s Anand

Pairings of the rounds to be played in the Zurich Chess Challenge 2016 super-tournament, which will kick off in this Swiss city, were determined by blitz games.

As a result, Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian, who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia, came in fifth with 2 points.

Six GMs will compete in this event.

In Round 1, which will kick off on Saturday at 6pm Armenia time, Aronian will face former World Champion, GM Viswanathan Anand (India).

In the second round, he will compete against another former World Champion, GM Vladimir Kramnik (Russia).

Both matches will be played on Saturday.

On Sunday, Levon Aronian’s opponents will be GMs Anish Giri (Netherlands) and Alexei Shirov (Spain).
And in the final round on February 15, Armenia’s top chess player will face GM Hikaru Nakamura (USA).
