London Chess Classic: Armenia’s Aronian defeats Bulgaria’s Topalov

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian achieved his first win in Friday’s seventh round of the 2015 London Chess Classic super tournament, which is the final leg in the Grand Chess Tour.

Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former

World Team Chess champions Armenia—defeated GM Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) in this round.

In Saturday’s penultimate Round 8, he will play against GM Alexander Grischuk (Russia).

Levon Aronian had played draws in the previous six rounds, and he has tallied 4 points so far.

Nine rounds are played in the 2015 London Chess Classic.

And if the tournament leaders garner the same amount of points, a tiebreak will be played on December 14.
