The World Chess Federation (FIDE) will try to solve the problem with Armenian players' participation in the upcoming tournaments that will be held in Baku, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told reporters.
FIDE president said he would address the leadership of national chess federations of Armenia and Azerbaijan, rsport reported.
Baku will host a knockout chess tournament this year and the world chess Olympiad in 2016, and FIDE wants to see participation of the strong Armenian and Azerbaijani players, Ilyumzhinov said.
“We will address the leadership of national federations and the leaders of the countries,” he added.
As reported earlier, Azerbaijani national team refused to participate in the team championship that will take place in Tsakhkadzor this April.
