Nanjing 2014: Narek Manasyan wins bronze

Boxer Narek Manasyan (Armenia) became a bronze medalist at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games which are held in Nanjing, China.

Manasyan defeated Viddal Riley (UK), and by a score of 2-1, in the Men’s Light Heavy (81kg) Bronze Medal Bout.

But Anush Grigoryan, who is Armenia’s sole female world boxing champion, was left without a medal at the Summer Youth Olympic Games, as she lost to Neriman Istik (Turkey), and by a score of 1-2, in the Women’s Fly (48-51kg) Bronze Medal Bout.

Manasyan has won Armenia’s fifth medal in Nanjing. Earlier, shooter Hrachik Babayan had become Olympic silver medalist in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle competition, and Hakob Mkrtchyan (77 kg) and Simon Martirosyan (+85 kg) had won gold medals in weightlifting.

Zaven Mikayelyan, on the other hand, on Monday advanced to the final in the Men’s 58kg Greco-Roman wrestling and, as a result, he has secured at least a silver medal for Armenia in this event.
