Aronian: Welcome to Armenia, Magnus!

YEREVAN. – The 2013 World Chess Champion, Grandmaster (GM) Magnus Carlsen (Norway), who tops the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings, has arrived in Armenia on Sunday.

GM Levon Aronian—who is second in the FIDE rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—is the host of the World No. 1 ranked chess player.

Aronian posted a photograph in his Facebook account and wrote the following underneath: “Welcome to Armenia, Magnus!”

On Monday, the world’s top two chess masters will head for Armenia’s medieval Tatev Monastery, where they will hold a chess session with monks, and on twenty chessboards.
