Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian will face GM Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) in the final, Round 9 at the chess super tournament being held in Stavanger, Norway.
After eight rounds, Aronian—who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions Armenia—has tallied 3.5 points.
The Bulgarian GM, on the other hand, shares the fourth to sixth places with 4 points. As reported earlier, however, Levon Aronian already has lost the chance to win the tournament.
