Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian will face GM Fabiano Caruana (Italy) in the penultimate Round 8 at the chess super tournament being held in Stavanger, Norway.
After seven rounds, Aronian—who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions Armenia—has tallied 3 points.
The Italian GM, on the other hand, is among the tournament leaders with 4 points.
