Grandmaster (GM) Varuzhan Akobian has recorded his fourth consecutive win, this time over GM Sergey Erenburg, in the USA Championship of chess being held in Saint Louis.
Having tallied 6 points after eight rounds, Akobian is in a sole lead. He is one point ahead of his nearest rivals, GMs Gata Kamski and Aleksandr Lenderman.
In the women’s competition, WGM Tatev Abrahamyan has tallied 4.5 points out of 7 points, and she is in third place at present. The current leader is International Master Anna Zatonskih, with 6 points.
