The penultimate Round 10 games got underway Saturday at the 2014 Tata Steel Chess Tournament being held in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia, and who is ranked second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) ratings—is playing against GM Leinier Domínguez (Cuba).
The Armenian GM may clinch the tournament champion’s title in this round.
Aronian is ahead of his closest challengers by 1.5 points.
Levon Aronian is a three-time winner of the super tournament in Wijk aan Zee.
Last year, however, the Armenian GM finished the tournament in second place after 2013 World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway) who is ranked first in the FIDE ratings.
