I play for my late father – Mkhitaryan

Now, I am doing everything so that the dream of my late father may come true, Armenian national football squad and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan told Bild.

“The ultimate goal for me is to help the team and to win titles. It is not important that they had voted for me as the super acquisition of the season, but it is pleasing.

“Mario Götze [who transferred from Borussia to Bayern Munich] and I are different types of players. It would make sense to compare us one year later, but now it is too early. It does not matter what the number is on the jersey; the game I display is crucial.

“Yes, I speak five languages and can say one sentence in German, even two (he laughs). I always want to learn. No, I don’t have a girlfriend. I came [to Germany] alone and am looking for an apartment nearby the sports facility.

“It is true that I play for my late father. He always wanted to see me as a football player. Now, I am doing everything so that his dream may come true,” Bild quotes the Armenian international as saying.

To note, Henrikh’s father, Hamlet Mkhitaryan—who likewise was a football player—died of a brain tumor at the age of just 33, when his son was only seven years old.
