There were teams which were offering more money than us for Mkhitaryan, stated general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke of Borussia Dortmund of Germany.
The club’s GM spoke about Armenian national football squad midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s recent transfer to Borussia.
“There were numerous circumstances, during Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s transfer, which were putting off the transfer of the player. First, various parties were involved in this transfer. Several clubs were interested in the services of the player. There were teams which were offering more money than us.
“[But] the fact that Miki [i.e., Mkhitaryan] wanted to play at Borussia helped during the transfer of Mkhitaryan; this fact helped us finalize this transfer,” Spox.com quotes Watzke as saying.
