2022 FIFA World Cup runners-up France have reached the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup.
The team, led by French manager Didier Deschamps, beat Morocco 2-0 in their quarterfinal match in Foxborough, USA (video).
In the 28th minute, the penalty kick awarded to the Moroccan national team was missed by the 27-year-old striker of the French national team and Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe. The 35-year-old goalkeeper of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, Yassine Bounou, made a save.
Mbappe opened the scoring in the 60th minute. Mbappe netted his 20th goal in just as many World Cup matches.
In the 66th minute, Mbappe's pass ended with a goal from 29-year-old PSG striker Ousmane Dembele.
Mbappe was substituted due to injury in the 77th minute.
France's opponents in the semifinals will be the winners of the Spain vs. Belgium showdown in the quarterfinals.
