Washington Capitals’ player Alexander Ovechkin has become the all-time leading goal scorer in the National Hockey League (NHL).
The 39-year-old Russian scored his 895th goal and became the all-time goal scorer in NHL history. Ovechkin broke the respective record of the legendary Canadian, Wayne Gretzky (894).
The Washington Capitals lost 1-4 to the New York Islanders in the NHL regular season game.
Gretzky was in attendance to this game and congratulated Ovechkin during a special event held at halftime.
