Paris 2024: Armenia's Malkhas Amoyan wins first match 8-0, advances to quarterfinals

Armenia's Malkhas Amoyan has won his first match at the 33rd Summer Olympics in Paris.

In the Round of 16 of the 77kg competition in the Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling tournament, world champion, three-time European champion Amoyan wrestled 2021 European youth champion, 2022 U20 European silver medalist, 2023 U23 European champion Jonni Kunnari Sarkkinen (Finland), and scored an impressive win, ahead of time, by a score of 8-0.

Amoyan's opponent in the quarterfinals will be the Asian Games silver medalist, the champion of Asia, Amin Kaviyaninejad (Iran).
