Georgia won its first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. At the judo tournament, Lasha Bekauri won the title of champion in the weight category up to 90 kg. He defeated Japan's Sanshiro Murao 10:1 in the final.
Bekauri became a two-time Olympic champion, repeating the success of the Tokyo Olympics.
