The first gold medals of the Paris Olympic Games were won by representatives of China. Sheng Lihao and Yuting Huang won the mixed air rifle 10-meter mixed doubles event. In the final they defeated a pair from South Koreans Ji Hyun Kim and Hae Chan Park.
Kazakhstan's Islam Satpayev and Alexandra Le won bronze medals, ahead of Germany's Maximilian Benedikt Ulbrich and Anna Jansen in third place.
China won its second gold medal in diving. The pair of Chen Yiwen and Chang Yan won the synchronized pole vault at 3 meters.
Americans Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook came in second place. Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen of Great Britain were bronze medalists.
